社名及び店舗名にある平惣（ひらそう）は創業者である平野惣吉の名から受け継いだもの です。
事業内容は書籍・文具などの販売、ＤＶＤ・ＣＤの販売及びレンタルが主な内容となっていますが、
毎月行われている施行を凝らしたイベントや、恒例と なっている「おはなしかい」や「ワークショップ」など、毎日通っても飽きさせません。
